Taco Bell’s Cheez-It Tostada features a giant Cheez-It cracker topped with seasoned beef, diced tomatoes, lettuce, shredded cheese, and reduced-fat sour cream.
I bought one for $3.99.
The Cheez-It Tostada came in a special box that was remarkably light.
Inside the box, my tostada was missing the shredded cheese, which meant I lost out on the stringy texture and very mild flavor. The tostada looked like a topped cracker hors d’oeuvre only bigger.
My giant Cheez-It cracker was pretty delicate. A corner was already broken when I opened the lid of the box and pieces kept falling off as I ate the tostada. Compared to an actual Cheez-It cracker it seemed slightly more fragile and a little more flaky. It had a similar thinness though. It tasted like a toasty cheese cracker but while it tasted like a Cheez-It cracker, it also tasted slightly different.
The seasoned beef was spread thinly but evenly over the cracker and was good for a familiar flavor and softness. The lettuce and tomato were fairly fresh. They were mostly tasteless and mostly there to add texture. The sour cream added a touch of richness and some tang.
Given the ingredients, Taco Bell’s Cheez-It Tostada mostly felt like the chain’s Crunchy Taco Supreme flattened out like a tostada. The giant Cheez-It provided an interesting novelty factor in terms of texture and taste but didn’t necessarily offer something better than the base tostada.
