Chick-fil-A’s Spicy Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich features a crispy-fried, spicy chicken breast filet drizzled with honey and served with pimento cheese and pickled jalapenos on a toasted bun.
The Spicy Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich costs $9.09 at my nearest Chick-fil-A in Los Angeles but I received this one courtesy of Chick-fil-A.
The sandwich was already dripping honey and pimento cheese when I popped open the box that it came in. They gave a wax wrapper to help but it still made for a messy, sticky meal.
If you’re unfamiliar with pimento cheese, it’s generally a spreadable combination of cheese, mayo, and pimentos (AKA cherry peppers). Chick-fil-A’s version is made with shredded cheddar, cream cheese, mayo, green chiles, and pimentos. The cheddar gave it a somewhat sharp flavor, the cream cheese and mayo added richness, and the peppers contributed a mild flavor and heat. It made for a very loose, mildly spicy, creamy sauce.
There was honey on both halves of the soft and airy bun. The honey added a light sweetness that went well with the creaminess of the cheese.
The jalapenos on the bottom were pickled but surprisingly light in terms of both tanginess and heat.
The chicken filet was lightly crispy at the surface and tender and moist inside. I remember it being spicier but it only brought a light heat here.
I was surprised that Chick-fil-A’s Spicy Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich ended up only mildly spicy despite several spicy elements involved. It wasn’t until I was almost finished eating that a light burn set in. While I wish it were spicier and not such a mess to eat, I enjoyed the pimento and honey combination in a tasty chicken sandwich.
