In 2019, Fatal Fury’s Mai Shiranui was one of the most-requested fighters for Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. She was excluded from the game because “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is for good boys and girls of many different ages,” according to Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai. However, Mai is on the way to Street Fighter 6 early next year, and she’s starring in a new teaser trailer that shows off her fighting style.
Amusingly, Mai calls herself “a good girl” in the video while inviting a novice fighter to her Fatal Fury 2 stage for some fighting tips. And it isn’t long before their training session is interrupted by some rude ninjas who are out to get Mai for some reason. Those shinobi picked the wrong woman to mess with, as she gracefully dispatches them with precision.
Mai was actually a guest character in the zombie survival mobile game Doomsday: Last Survivors earlier this year, but Street Fighter 6 will be her first confrontation with the Capcom characters since SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos in 2003. Mai’s fellow Fatal Fury hero, Terry Bogard, was added to Street Fighter 6 earlier this year.
Terry and Mai will also be reunited in Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves, the first sequel in the series to arrive in the last 25 years. In addition to the standard fighting game matches, City of the Wolves will also feature a solo-player RPG mode when it hits Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on April 25, 2025.
