Sonic adds a new hand-smashed burger to the menu with the arrival of the Sonic Smasher. The chain’s first smash burger is available now via early access to Sonic App users ahead of nationwide availability starting Monday, August 5, 2024.
Sonic describes the Sonic Smasher as “an elevated burger experience like no other, perfectly balancing the textures and flavors of a sit-down restaurant cheeseburger, all at a fraction of the cost.”
The Sonic Smasher features two Angus beef patties that are smashed, seasoned, and seared to order. The patties are served with American cheese, signature Smasher Sauce, crinkle-cut pickles, and diced onions, on a toasted potato bun.
The suggested price tag on the Sonic Smasher starts at $6.49. If you want an extra smash patty, the Sonic Triple Smasher starts at $7.49. Here in Los Angeles, the Sonic Smasher costs $7.39 while the Sonic Triple Smasher is $8.39.
Rival fast-food chain Jack in the Box also recently added smash burgers to the menu although its version does not appear to be actually smashed on the grill (i.e. it’s more of a smash-style burger).
