Steak ‘n Shake will fry its shoestring fries in beef tallow instead of vegetable oil at all locations by the end of February 2025.
According to a spokesperson for the chain, “”Our fries will now be cooked in an authentic way, 100% beef tallow, in order to achieve the highest quality and best taste.”
In fast-food circles, the mention of beef tallow and fries typically brings to mind McDonald’s which used to fry its signature French fries in tallow until 1990 when the chain switched in favor of vegetable oil due to health concerns.
