Many brands are just now discovering TikTok and just how powerful it is when it comes to content exposure and marketing. If you’re struggling to understand how it works and how your brand can make the most of it, TikTok has some video tips.
TikTok has shared the following four video best practices for brands.
1. Use the whole thang. TikTok advises using a 9:16 aspect ratio for videos. Vertical, full screen videos perform best on their platform for obvious reasons. Try to only post content that fits the entire screen and leaves no blank space. I
2. Be a story teller. TikTok recommends a length of 21 to 24 seconds. The company also advises never to publish a video that is shorter than 10 seconds. Also make sure to use video captions. Laying down some descriptive text over your content is great for people who tend to use their phone without volume. It also just gives you extra room to tell a story or be funny, etc.
3. Video quality is key. The minimum should be 720p and make sure that the quality is on point! It’s 2022 and nobody will even glance at your content if it looks like it was recorded in 1999.
4. It’s all about the sounds bro. TikTok says it can be any kind of audio. But the more relevant, the better.
There isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to this though. While there are endless ways to create a ‘good’ TikTok video, finding your brand’s unique voice and direction will ultimately set you apart, and the rules are just tips and tricks to get you there.
TikTok themselves state that its users pay attention to accounts that provide fun, entertaining or culturally-relevant experiences. So when formulating your strategy, make sure you keep all these things in mind.
That’s it for today! From here, it’s up to you to make sure your audience can find and engage with your content. TikTok makes it pretty easy to reach a wide audience, you just have to know how to take advantage of it!
